Edgewater Networks Enhances Business Videoconferencing Between Distributed Users With Launch Of EdgeProtect 7300

Simplifies High-Quality Videoconferencing for SMBs Using Mobile Devices

Edgewater Networks Inc. recently announced the availability of the EdgeProtect 7300 Enterprise Session Border Controller (ESBC) designed specifically to enable secure, high-quality, real-time video communications between distributed users. The EdgeProtect 7300 resolves key challenges for video faced by small and medium businesses including firewall traversal, device interoperability, provisioning of mobile clients, quality of end user experience and security.

“The evolution of traditional network boundaries has made the job of connecting distributed offices, SOHO users, business partners and mobile employees increasingly complex,” said Dave G. Norman, Chief Executive Officer of Edgewater Networks, Inc. “The EdgeProtect solution provides secure, reliable connectivity for video communications that enables SMB customers to improve productivity and reduce costs.”

The EdgeProtect 7300 is a single appliance that is optimized for small and medium businesses.  It is easily deployed and supports standards-based H.323 and H.460 NAT/firewall traversal with flexible security policy management.  The system will work with existing H.323 gatekeepers and also includes an embedded gatekeeper option for H.323 signaling.  Media features include shortest path media routing to minimize the negative affects of jitter, latency and packet loss on video communications as well as media relay when H.460 firewall traversal is required.

The EdgeProtect 7300 offers broad interoperability with leading vendors including Cisco, Lifesize, Polycom, Radvision, Vidyo and more.  It also provides simplified provisioning for specific Polycom mobility clients.

The system provides 3 x 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports, an RJ45 serial interface and supports standard management protocols including SNMPv1, SNMPv3, SSH, Telnet, syslog and HTTP/S (GUI).  The EdgeProtect 7300 is performance optimized for a wide range of installations supporting from 5 to 100 simultaneous video sessions.  US list pricing for the EdgeProtect 7300 ranges from $7,500 to $39,925 depending on configuration.
