Integration Behind Success In 2010
November 6, 2009
It seems appropriate at an event focused so keenly on networking, integration, and the sharing of expertise that I would talk about a new integration effort by SonicWALL with Jan Sijp, director of product development for the security vendor. Sijp shared with me that SonicWALL is launching a web services interface that will increase and simplify integration with other products, among them managed services tools such as professional services automation (PSA) tools.
Expected to hit in December 2009, the new web services product will allow vendors such as ConnectWise and others in the PSA and remote monitoring and management (RMM) space to develop interfaces with SonicWALL's GMS product, pulling its security reports and other data into their own tools and generating rich reports and customer views for MSPs using the products.
While the initial goal of this open API architecture is to allow SonicWALL to serve up data to partner vendor products, eventually, says Sijp, the flow of information will be bi-directional, further increasing the value to the channel partners striving to observe and categorize every event on a customer network. ConnectWise will be the first partner in this new undertaking, with full integration expected early 2010.
