The new Web-Managed Gigabit PoE Switches from Intellinet Offer Small to Medium-sized Businesses Greater Network Customization, Reliability and Performance

Today's busy small to medium-sized business (SMB) network is every bit as data hungry as its enterprise-level counterpoint. But, enterprise-level, managed IT equipment is often too advanced and costly for SMBs. For this reason, Intellinet Network Solutions has unveiled its newest generation of Gigabit Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) network switches: a 24 port (+2 SFP) rackmount model, a 16-port (+2 SFP) rackmount model and an 8-port desktop model. Designed to deliver high-speed data and up to 30 Watts of power to a variety of compliant devices, this new generation of PoE switches offers SMBs the performance they need at a price point they can afford.

The flagship of the new Intellinet Gigabit PoE switch line, the 24-Port (+2 SFP) PoE Web-Managed Rackmount Gigabit Switch (560559) is designed for use in SMB environments that require a robust network, as well as support for multiple PoE or PoE+ devices. This switch provides data and power to up to 24 802.3af and/or 802.3at compliant devices such as VoIP phones, IP cameras, and wireless access points, while two small form-factor pluggable GBIC module slots (SFP) provide fiber connectivity for greater distances. An overall switch PoE budget of 190 Watts provides the user more flexibility in customizing their network, and its Web-based management functions allow the user to be in full control over their network.

Although it has eight fewer ports than the flagship model, the 16-Port (+2 SFP) PoE Web-Managed Rackmount Gigabit Switch (560535) offers the same level of network performance, as well as the same massive PoE budget of 190 Watts. This makes the new 16-Port PoE Gigabit Switch unique switch ideally suited for forward-leaning businesses looking to upgrade and enhance the capabilities of their network. Also like the 24-port model, this switch has two SFP ports and built-in Web-management tools.

Perfect for small office installations or use with IP-based security systems, the Intellinet Network Solutions 8-Port PoE Web-Managed Desktop Gigabit Switch is designed to pass both data and electrical power to PoE compatible devices via standard Cat5e or Cat6 network cables. Unlike several similar 8-port switches on the market, the Intellinet 8-port model offers Gigabit connectivity on all ports, as well as 802.3at and 802.3af PoE support up to 30 Watts.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology enables powering of compatible devices via the transfer of electrical power along with data over standard Cat5e or Cat6 network cables. It is typically employed where access to power lines or outlets is inconvenient or expensive to provide. The new Intellinet Gigabit PoE switches offer three major advantages over older Fast-Ethernet rackmount or office models: ten times the network link speed, more power-per-port and greater flexibility of installation. Because these new PoE switches support PoE and PoE+ compatible devices, they can power a range of network cameras, high-power wireless access points and VoIP phones, and therefore significantly reduce or eliminate the cost of additional electrical cabling or PoE injectors in a SMB deployment.
