High-tech access control and security systems used to be the exclusive domain of large companies with deep pockets, but falling prices and improved networking technologies have put these same solutions within the reach of smaller and midsize businesses. State and local governments are also deploying these systems with increasing frequency, as are many critical infrastructure sites (e.g. petroleum, power generation, water treatment), often in response to new security regulations. "In many cases, these entities have high risk exposure due to the types of equipment or assets they keep on-site," says Tim Dodge, product business unit leader at TESSCO Technologies. "They can appreciate how a welldesigned access control system, coupled with other technologies, can help them mitigate business risk."
