Tech Data Strengthens Data Center Solutions Strategy

March 10, 2010

Tech Data's Advanced Infrastructure Solutions (AIS) Division recently announced enhancements to its go-to-market strategy with the introduction of four new Solutions Groups. Following the successful introduction of the division's Cisco Solutions Group last year, AIS has built out its data center support structure with the HP Solutions Group, IBM Solutions Group, Software Solutions Group and Storage Solutions Group.

"Since establishing the AIS Division three years ago, Tech Data has been aggressively expanding our data center solutions offering and enabling our reseller customers to profitably deploy these technologies in the public and private sectors," said Tech Data Senior Vice President and General Manager, Advanced Infrastructure Solutions, Pete Peterson. "Today we're announcing the next phase of our AIS data center strategy with the introduction of the AIS Solutions Groups. These teams of dedicated experts will enable AIS to better align our extensive sales, marketing and technical resources with the needs of customers and vendor partners."

The AIS Solutions Groups include sales, technical, marketing and business development specialists. These data center experts hold numerous certifications across AIS' five strategic technology pillars of servers, storage, virtualization, management software and high-end networking. Each team assists resellers in selecting and configuring the hardware, software and services they need to deploy the data center solutions that best meet their customers' needs. The AIS Solutions Groups also will be the foundation for the division's specialized partner-enablement strategy this year, including sales and technical trainings, webinars, roadshows, the Technology Solutions Tour and TechSelect University.

Building The New Data Center
"The AIS Solutions Groups are all about reseller enablement," added Peterson. "Each group will serve as our platform for ensuring resellers have access to the sales and technical training, marketing support and financial resources they need to profitably capitalize on the latest technology trends transforming data center design."

The new AIS Solutions Groups strategy complements the technology roadmaps many major IT vendors are now following. Like the Cisco Solutions Group-which was established to help Cisco channel partners capitalize on the convergence of networking and data center technologies-the new Solutions Groups will bring dedicated expertise and a similar support structure to a broader array of resellers and vendors. The AIS Solutions Groups will enable resellers to more effectively and profitably design, deploy and manage fully optimized, integrated data centers.

The AIS Solutions Groups also will provide a wide range of sales and marketing support, better enabling resellers to present the new data center's value proposition to their customers. For example, emerging data center technologies will help resellers create solutions that better utilize existing IT infrastructure, reduce power consumption, streamline management and serve as the foundation for corporate cloud computing strategies, as well as a host of other cost-cutting improvements and new efficiencies.

Comprehensive Data Center Solutions
Tech Data's AIS Division partners with dozens of industry leaders including Brocade, Cisco, HP, IBM and VMware to provide resellers with access to one of the channel's broadest data center solutions offerings. Its team of experts holds an array of sales and technical certifications, and Tech Data has more certified virtualization professionals than any other distributor. Through its dedicated inside and field sales teams and new Solutions Groups, AIS offers a high-touch, consultative sales approach to help resellers profitably sell, deploy and manage the latest data centers technologies.
