Networking VAR Grows By Adding Forms Processing
A VAR combines networking expertise, custom software solutions, and third party software to grow revenue by 15%.
A main focus of Business Solutions magazine is to cover VARs that add complementary technologies to their line cards to increase sales. One VAR that exemplifies that practice is Informa Software. About eight years ago, Informa installed a forms processing solution for Westgate Resorts in Orlando, FL.
Brett Bicker, manager of implementation services and support for Informa Software, explains, “Westgate needed a solution to process mortgage payments more efficiently and more accurately.” This low-volume automated payment processing solution served the needs of Westgate for six years.
Two years ago, Westgate approached Informa to enhance the original payment processing solution. Westgate wanted to automate the process of capturing data on customer checks. “That process required the recognition of some very dynamic data on checks, matching the data to the proper client account, and passing the data to an Oracle-based accounting application and to our ImageQuest application,” says Bicker.
Informa used Cardiff’s TeleForm application with A2iA’s check processing engine. Informa customized TeleForm with A2iA’s engine, so that when checks are scanned, it performs an automated comparison of check amounts with the balances due. Taking the project a step further, Informa added the capability for Westgate to process checks through the ACH (Automated Clearing House) Network.
Simultaneous with the check processing project, Informa also completed a project to identify and process mailroom, fax, and e-mail correspondence, while tying that data to client records in Westgate’s Unicenter Service Desk application from Computer Associates. Bicker concludes, “The Westgate installation is significant because it has been a model relationship — wherein we have worked to be a resource to the company, assisting in extending the technology to other parts of the organization. The trusted advisor status we have earned at Westgate has led to recurring revenue opportunities.”
