Q&A: Is Solid State Ready For Prime Time?

Spinning disk drives have long been the defacto standard for storing and serving up enterprise content. Even though solid state or flash storage is making ground in the external consumer storage realm, its play as a business alternative to traditional disk array technology isn't seen as a viable option for most businesses due to both high costs and concerns about long-term reliability. According to Thomas Isakovich, CEO and founder of Nimbus Data Systems, Inc., solid state storage is gaining serious momentum, and storage and networking VARs are wise to take heed.
