What are some ways VARs can upsell restaurateurs on security?
Although restaurateurs are often aware that security is an issue they need to address, sometimes they are not completely sure where the security breaches can take place. VARs can provide specific information as to where and how security can be set up to alleviate common security threats, the operators can be better educated and enable better security. VARs can approach restaurateurs offering a service to relieve them of the security burden that includes port checks, regular reviews, software upgrades, implementation, and maintenance. The focus of the VAR should be cost justification. Just like a POS system, a security system is not a profit-generating item to a restaurant. However, it can lead to more sales if customers perceive that an establishment is concerned about their safety. Educating the restaurant owners about how the price of security systems has come down in recent years is also important to the selling process.
