Access Control And Video Surveillance News From December 2014

Each month, Business Solutions reports news on business in the channel. This month in access control and video surveillance news, DVTEL launches 4K Ultra HD minidome and bullet cameras, and Axis announces a corner-mount stainless steel corner network camera. Also, Genetec introduces hybrid cloud archiving service and announces a new partnership with VenTek.

DVTEL Launches 4K Ultra HD Cameras

DVTEL launched the Quasar 4K Ultra HD minidome and bullet cameras. They feature an Ultra HD media processor and deliver 30 frames per second (fps) and 250M pixels per second. The cameras include IR illumination, a built-in heater, a vandal-resistant IP66 enclosure, and a low-light 4K image sensor to equip the cameras for wide variations in motion and lighting.

Axis Announces Stainless Steel Corner Network Camera

Axis Communications offers its first corner-mount fixed network camera for applications including correctional facilities, interview rooms, psychiatric wards, and medical observation rooms, as well as in elevators and stairwells. It features a stainless steel antigrip casing, a built-in microphone, and capability to integrate the camera into an alarm system via its I/O port. It offers 1.3 megapixel or HDTV 720p video streams and includes day and night capabilities, remote zoom and focus, and P-Iris control to optimize depth of field, resolution, image contrast, and clarity. The horizontal angle of view up to 105 degrees covers the entire room without blind spots.

Genetec Introduces Hybrid Cloud Archiving Service, Integration With VenTek

Genetec announced its new Cloud Archives service. Operators will be able to view and to search video from the Genetec Security Center, whether archived locally or in the cloud. The solution leverages Microsoft Azure, and all recorded content will be replicated and mirrored in Azure data centers. Archived video will be encrypted prior to its transfer to the cloud. Enterprise customers can also implement an off-site recording solution for complete redundancy using Cloud Archives, and organizations with distributed sites will have the ability to pool their Cloud Archives resources across multiple systems to share capacity. Security Center Cloud Archives is currently available as a preview to channel partners and customers and will be generally available during Q1 2015 as a subscription-based service.

The company also announced a new partnership with VenTek to offer integration between the VenTek Pay-by-License solution and Genetec AutoVu automated license plate recognition (ALPR) system. Leveraging the open architecture in AutoVu, VenTek parking solutions are integrated through the AutoVu Pay-by-Plate Sync feature, facilitating pay-by-plate or pay-by-license parking systems. This feature also enables the integration of permit management systems, pay stations, and pay-by-phone solutions.
