Trustwave: More Than One-Third Of Companies Can Use Help With Access Control

Each month, Business Solutions reports news on business in the channel. This month in access control and video surveillance news, Genetec offers a new security center communications management module, Milestone Systems adds support for edge storage and enhances its customer dashboard, and Exacq Technologies introduces an automatic IP camera connector feature.

Genetec Offers New Security Center Communications Management Module

Genetec introduces Sipelia Communications Management, a new module of Security Center that enables unified SIP (Session Initiated Protocol)-based communications between operators and intercom devices deployed throughout an organization. With access-controlled doors, parking gates, and cameras linked to an intercom system through Security Center Sipelia, audio and intercom communications can become key components of a security strategy. Sipelia is powered by an embedded voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) server that registers intercom devices and door stations, as well as intercom servers using the SIP standard. The new module is expected to be available during Q4.

Genetec also announced enhancements to its SV-32 appliance to provide native support for access control alongside video surveillance capabilities on a single turnkey solution. The SV-32 will come preinstalled with Genetec’s unified security platform, Security Center, to offer customers the ability to deploy either a unified security solution, stand-alone access control, or a video surveillance system.

Milestone Systems Adds Support For Edge Storage, Enhances Customer Dashboard

Milestone Systems, an open platform company in IP video management system (VMS) software, released Device Pack 7.5 for the XProtect portfolio of VMS products. This upgrade includes support for ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) edge storage. This enables Milestone partners and customers to choose devices from any camera manufacturer supporting ONVIF edge storage. Milestone XProtect Corporate supports the intelligent use of camera-integrated edge storage as a complement to centralized video storage, and the device support in XProtect reaches beyond digital video devices to support encoders that allow analog cameras to be connected to the VMS.

Milestone Systems also announced updates to the Milestone Customer Dashboard, an online system monitoring service. This service gives Milestone channel partners real-time system status of any of their customers’ installations. The online service is compatible with all 2013 versions and forward of XProtect Enterprise, XProtect Professional, XProtect Express, XProtect Essential, and all models of the Milestone Husky NVR series.

EasyConnect Launched With exacqVision 6.4 Release

Exacq Technologies, part of the security products business unit of Tyco, introduced the EasyConnect automatic IP camera connector feature with version 6.4 of exacqVision VMS software. EasyConnect allows users to find, address, and connect multiple IP cameras to their networks automatically. It currently supports IP cameras from Illustra, Axis Communications, and Arecont Vision, with plans to expand compatibility to additional brands.

Version 6.4 of exacqVision includes the new VideoPush video wall feature. This feature gives exacqVision Enterprise users the ability to instantly push selected cameras, layouts, tours, groups, or entire views to another exacqVision client monitor — including other users’ monitors or even a public view monitor (PVM). Version 6.4 also includes updates to the Exacq Mobile app for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone 8 devices, which allow users to check video from specific cameras. In addition, this version includes a Web browser client and improvements to Enterprise System Manager (ESM), a health monitoring program for use with exacqVision Enterprise networked video recorders (NVRs). It also adds support for more than 130 new IP cameras, including several fisheye and panoramic models. The exacqVision VMS now supports more than 2,000 IP camera models from the industry’s leading manufacturers.
