RetailNOW 2013 will help attendees answer the question: “Am I really a retail solutions provider?” The purpose of beginning RSPA’s conference in Las Vegas with this question is to empower attendees, who will work toward that goal during three days of education.

“RetailNOW can provide attendees with the latest industry specific education, an opportunity to see the providers of world class retail technology products, and network with your industry peers.  RetailNOW empowers you with the information and interaction needed to help your business grow,” says Joe Finizio, RSPA president and CEO. “Merchants want solutions…they don’t want ‘stuff’ anymore. The information and education provided at RetailNOW — in the form of education sessions and expo and networking opportunities — is designed to give attendees the knowledge to focus on being true solutions providers for customers and prospects.”

Education sessions on Monday, Aug. 5, will focus on “Concept,” Tuesday on “Implementation,” and Wednesday on “Empowerment.” This year’s “Hot Topic” courses are “Decision Making  in a World of Uncertainty,” “Mobility Agility,” “Why VARs Should Offer Mobile POS Solutions,” “Smart Phones on Main Street,” and “Customer Empathy Training.” Hot Topic courses are free, but preregistration is required.

Panel Discussions this year focus on transition and change. On Monday, the topic is “Transition to the ‘as-a-Service Model,” moderated by Mike Monocello and Jim Roddy of Business Solutions magazine. The topic on Tuesday is “EMV Opportunities: Capitalize on EMV and Create Additional Value for Merchants,” moderated by Jason Oxman of Electronic Transactions Association. Wednesday’s panel will discuss “The State of the POS Market,” moderated by George Koroneos of VSR.

RetailNOW participants can also opt for additional educational opportunities during the week. There are three business strategy sessions before and after the conference. On Sunday, Aug. 4, Stephanie Scott of Professional Speaking will present “Don’t Make Me Think: Sales Presentation Strategies that Achieve Results.” This full-day workshop provides strategies and skills to help with sales pitches, presentations, and professional communications.

On Thursday, Aug. 8, Mark Frasco of COACT Associates will present “Business Builders Workshop: Moving Ideas to Action.”  In this workshop, you will “learn how to design and implement a process that will clearly communicate your value to the market, help you systematically ascertain the needs of your customer or business prospect, and build trust.”

Also on Thursday, Ken Thoreson of Acumen Management Group will lead “Business Motivation Boot Camp: Creating a Solution-Oriented, Services-Focused, Sales Organization.” Thoreson will teach participants “how to map out new sales strategies in the ‘as-a-service’ business model, how to transform customer/end-user relationships into consultative partnerships, and how to shift focus onto becoming a total solution for your customers.” This workshop is a classroom training requirement for 2013 RSPA Sales Specialist Certification.
