ATEN Introduces New Secure KVM Solutions Designed Specifically For The Intelligence IT Community

CS1182/1184 and CS1642/1644-DoD Switches Ensure Secure and Reliable Access to Government and Military Desktop Computing Environments

Foothill Ranch, CA –ATEN, a leading designer and manufacturer of advanced connectivity solutions, today announced the availability of secure KVM switches, designed specifically for the intelligence IT community. The CS1182 (two-port) and CS1184 (four-port) along with the CS1642-DoD (two-port) and CS1644-DoD (four-port) KVM switches provide secure and reliable access to government and military desktop computing environments.

Configured to allow multiple desktop environments to share a keyboard, video display and mouse, ATEN’s secure KVM switches enable users to securely access different networks and applications located on disparate systems all while keeping the hardware separate. To adhere to government security standards, the CS1182/1184 includes an array of hardware-based features such as tamper-evident tape which provides a visual indication of any attempted access to the switch’s internal components. Chassis intrusion detection is also supported, automatically disabling the unit if any of the screws are removed. The CS1182/1184 are NIAP-certified according to The Common Criteria’s certification.

Through ATEN’s tamper-evident secure firmware, USB connectivity of the CS1182/1184 is restricted to HIDs (Human Interface Devices) only therefore disallowing any other USB devices that might compromise security. Each unit provides an isolated channel per port that makes it impossible for cross-platform data contamination to occur between computers of different classifications.

The CS1642/1644-DoD combine a two-port or four-port KVM switch with a two-port USB hub, providing dual-screen support for two DVI displays.  As a KVM switch, it allows users to access two computers with dual-screen support from a single USB keyboard, mouse, and dual-screen console. As a USB hub, the CS1642/1644-DoD permit each computer to access any peripherals connected to it on a “one computer at a time” basis.

As government and military computing environments require access to multiple yet secure network resources and applications, ATEN’s CS1182/1184 and CS1642/1644-DoD KVM switches can provide the necessary separation of disparate systems without compromising convenience. The CS1642/1644-DoD versions of this switch have been pre-configured to meet DISA STIG for Peripheral Switching in use on peer-to-peer networks and offers the intelligence community an alternative to the higher priced NIAP-certified switch. This product has also been accredited by Hill AFB IAD for use in their environment.
