Both SVGA and 720p models run full frame rate video thanks to 802.11n; Enable intelligent, cost-efficient surveillance for in-house or hosted video systems

Axis Communications (ASIS International booth #2137), the global leader in the network video market, announces small and affordable AXIS M1043-W and AXIS M1044-W Network Cameras with wireless connection capabilities, local recording of video and audio, and smart video surveillance features. They are suitable for securing locations such as small businesses, retail stores, restaurants, hotels and residences where a wired connection might be difficult or undesired.

Axis will be showcasing the newest additions to its wireless IP camera portfolio in booth #2137 at ASIS International 2011.

These latest models of the AXIS M10 Series provide excellent video quality at 30 frames per second in both SVGA (AXIS M1043-W) and HDTV 720p (AXIS M1044-W) resolutions. They feature wireless capabilities with Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) protocol, which simplifies the process of configuring logical security on wireless networks. The combination of the wireless 802.11n standard and the WPS protocol assures user-friendliness and high network security, while enabling HDTV video to be streamed reliably over a wireless network.

"As technology innovation continues in network video surveillance, higher resolution and smarter IP cameras are available to a wider range of customers in a more affordable package," said Fredrik Nilsson, general manager, Axis Communications Inc. "These new wireless additions to the M10 Series – with support for edge storage, the 802.11n standard, WPS, and AVHS – provide small business and even residential users with an effective and intelligent surveillance tool for use in an in-house or hosted video system."

Edge storage includes support for micro-SDHC cards as well as recording to network shares such as a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device. This creates the possibility to build a cost-efficient and reliable recording solution that can be used to achieve redundancy in a system as well as record in different resolutions and frame rates based on the needs of the end-user.

The cameras also feature a passive infrared (PIR) sensor for detecting movement in the dark and a white LED light for illuminating the scene automatically when motion is detected or when activated by the user. They support two-way audio with an integrated microphone and speaker, allowing users to listen in on an area as well as communicate with visitors or intruders remotely. In addition to these features, the wireless network cameras include I/O ports (one input, one output) for connecting devices such as door sensors and external relays to activate lights or initiate video recording.

AXIS M1043-W and AXIS M1044-W Network Cameras are supported by the industry's largest base of video management software through Axis' Application Development Partner Program and AXIS Camera Station. In addition, the cameras include support for AXIS Camera Application Platform and AXIS Video Hosting System (AVHS) with One-Click Camera connection for managing video hosting services over the Internet.

The cameras will be available in Q4 2011 at the suggested retail prices of US $299 for AXIS M1043-W and US $379 for AXIS M1044-W.
