New Offerings Bring Business-Grade Features That Support Overall Document Capture Strategies While Helping in Reducing Costs and Improving Processes

Bridgewater, NJ /PRNewswire/ - Brother International Corporation, a multi-billion dollar leader in technology for offices of all sizes, today announced medium-to-high volume desktop scanners directly aligned to key IT and business initiatives. These new and enhanced devices play an important role in the SMB document lifecycle, increasing efficiency for small and mid-size businesses (SMBs) in industries such as healthcare, retail, education, finance, legal and more.

The scanners are part of a broader effort from Brother that help companies optimize the use of printers and scanners so they can reduce costs, increase productivity and realize improved workflow. An earlier example of this effort is the Brother "Don't Supersize. Optimize" initiative launched in October, which encourages SMBs to explore balanced technology deployments. The new scanners, along with award-winning printers and all-in-ones, make up a strong SMB product portfolio. Additionally, these devices can be combined with software and cloud solutions that empower mobility, enhance document security and support cost recovery efforts.

Addressing the specific needs of SMB capture workflows, Brother today introduced desktop scanners focused on two distinct areas. First, the ADS-2000e and ADS-2500We, enhanced versions of the ADS-2000 and the ADS-2500W, package business-grade features to support an effective de-centralized document capture and management strategy for SMBs.

Of note, the ADS-2500We builds upon the critically acclaimed ADS-2500W, previously awarded the Buyers Laboratory (BLI) Outstanding Achievement award in Innovation. With a color touchscreen display and wireless connectivity, the ADS-2500We includes features that support key enterprise IT initiatives:

Kofax certification: Compatibility with industry-leading Kofax VRS Elite software delivers automatic document examination and settings to ensure high quality scanned images, transforming paper-based files into usable digital data.

Infrastructure to allow developers and integrators a greater level of customization: Access to the Brother Solutions Interface (BSI) enables developers to access the web services of the scanner in order to further customize solutions that enhance workflow.

Cloud services integration to support corporate mobility and collaborative processes: The Brother award-winning Web Connect on the ADS-2500We provides integration with applications such as Microsoft® OneDrive and OneNote®, GOOGLE DOCS™, EVERNOTE®, Dropbox, Picasa Web Album™, FLICKR®, Facebook™, Android™ devices, e-mail servers and FTPs, supporting the increasingly collaborative and mobile nature of today's workforce.

Enhanced security to aid IT compliance and data protection efforts: The ADS-2500We includes a secure function lock and Microsoft Active Directory authentication for additional layers of security and control.

Second, Brother also introduced two new high-speed, high-volume desktop scanners, the PDS-5000 and PDS-6000, with features that cater to a more dedicated workflow. The new PDS models feature increased speed and throughput allowing for higher quality images and larger file sizes, as well as improved image processing and compatibility through drivers and award-winning bundled software solutions. Kofax certification enables the PDS-series devices to deliver the best-possible image quality through improved optical character recognition (OCR) processing. Barcode batch scanning support allows SMBs to increase efficiency by rapidly processing multiple mixed sets of documents without pre-sorting or stopping and starting. These models also support a USB 3.0 interface as well as speeds up to 60 pages per minute (PDS-5000) or up to 80 pages per minute (PDS-6000).

The PDS models deliver superior image quality required for precise document handling. These solutions provide the best-in-class image quality and significantly improved OCR capabilities, transforming documents into usable data that can be integrated into workflow processes easily via expanded integration with the TWAIN driver.

"SMBs count on Brother for reliable and innovative business solutions. These new desktop scanners with enhanced features and interoperability can help SMBs transform manual paper processes into easy and efficient electronic document workflows. Additionally, scanners allow customers to store data and communicate information that historically has been locked in hard-copy form," said Dan Waldinger, director of Marketing.

The ADS scanners are available now and the PDS-series scanners will be available in April. To locate a reseller, visit the Brother Business Solutions Center.
