Can You Successfully Partner With Another IT Solutions Provider?

Pick The Right Partner

The issue of partnering with other IT solutions providers comes up in relation to many projects at Sikich LLP. The multidisciplinary professional services firm with roughly 7,000 public sector and about 9,000 private sector clients around the globe has partnered with hundreds of VARs, ISVs, and other IT solutions providers. The firm specializes in technology, accounting, investment banking and a host of advisory services.

But, is partnering necessary?

Jim Drumm, partner-in-charge for the technology practice at Sikich, answers, “Yes.”

“It’s a form of protection,” he explains. “You control who comes in and who does what.”

When a client asks for an IT solution beyond your competency, you can provide it by partnering with another provider. The alternatives would be trying to add that solution to your line card quickly or telling the customer to find someone else to provide it — and someone else could be a competitor who wants all of your customers’ business.
