Cash In On Municipal IP Video Opportunities

This integrator’s security specialization allowed it to purpose-build a surveillance solution for the City of Irvine, CA.

While we’ve recommended that IT integrators take a good look at the IP surveillance market, it should be noted that you can’t rush in without having a firm understanding of the unique challenges and specialized knowledge required to be successful. The City of Irvine has a contract with a general IT consultant to be provided with IT services and the maintenance of the city’s existing VMS (video management system) and cameras. A few years ago, there was a need to install some new cameras at a train station, but since the IT consultant doesn’t specialize in video surveillance, they reached out to security integrator Blue Violet Networks. According to Chad Gordon, VP of security & industrial automation for the integrator, the installation was simple; the integrator installed a couple PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras at the train station to monitor the platform and tracks.
