Cisco offers an infographic that shows solutions that will help your retail IT customers stay relevant in the “Internet of Everything” (IoE) era.

Sharing data from the white paper “Winning the New Digital Consumer with Hyper-Relevance,” the infographic provides data on consumer’s interest in IoE solutions in three categories of “savings,” “engagement,” and “efficiency.”

Ways to save money are always important, and 78 percent of respondents to Cisco’s fifth annual retail consumer survey say are interested in viewing general offers in store via digital signage, 73 percent would use their smartphones in order to scan products to receive special offers and promotions in store, and 67 percent would take advantage of targeted offers tailored to their interests from in-store digital signage.

In the category of engagement, almost half of respondents say they would like to scan a product for recommendations, 54 percent would view in-store advertising to get information about a product, 57 percent would be willing to use an augmented reality application on their smartphones to review information about products, and 48 percent would scan products for recommendations (such as for a wine pairing with a meal).

Efficiency was the most important area for consumers, with 77 percent willing to use checkout optimization for estimated wait times, 67 percent of survey respondents stating they would like to use an in-store guidance system to find where a product is located and the best route to get to it through the store, and 63 percent saying they would use the system to locate items on their shopping lists. The survey also reveals 57 percent would like the convenience and efficiency of placing orders online and picking them up via drive-thru at the store, and 53 percent of consumers would be willing to pay an extra fee for same-day delivery from stores when ordering online. Also, 60 percent of consumers would like the ability to scan products with their smartphone to track and pay at a self-service checkout.
