CompTIA (www.comptia.org), the nonprofit association for the IT industry, shares news from day two of ChannelCon 2013, under way this week in Orlando, FL.

Today, the conference was the setting for the release of the study Generational Research on Technology and its Impact in the Workplace. This report shows how generational shifts in the makeup of the workforce are necessitating changes in how organizations hire, train, and equip workforces.  Generation Y workers will dominate the workforce within the next 10 years. Gen Y grew up with technology, and two-thirds of Gen Y survey respondents consider their technology skills as “cutting edge” or “upper tier.” Their high expectations for tech in the workplace could be the deciding factor of whether or not they accept job offers. Today’s agenda also included keynote speeches by Todd Thibodeaux, president and CEO of CompTIA, and Robert Stephens, founder of the Geek Squad and former CTO with Best Buy. Today’s panel discussion topics included trends in telecom, cloud computing, and health IT.
