Crimson Transaction Technologies And Equinox Payments Introduce EMV-Certified Payment Solution

Simple API facilitates rapid integration for POS developers

Crimson Transaction Technologies (“Crimson”), an innovative provider of point-of-sale (POS) software specializing in retail, government and park fee collection, and Equinox Payments (“Equinox”), a leading provider of payment terminals, applications and support services, recently announced the availability of an integrated payment solution to help ISVs and VARs quickly and easily offer EMV-certified technology to their customers. The solution runs on the Equinox L5000 series terminals and has achieved end-to-end certification with the First Data Rapid Connect program, providing EMV-certified processing on First Data’s authorization and settlement platforms, including support for First Data’s TransArmor advanced security technology.

Scoria, Crimson’s retail suite of applications, features a credit switch that can be implemented independent of the POS application. The Scoria Credit Switch handles processing for debit and credit cards, checks, and gift cards. Both EMV contact and contactless payments are supported.

Integration is achieved via a simple API (application programming interface), which results in the rapid availability of an EMV-certified solution, and eliminates the need for software vendors to go through the complex and time-consuming process of obtaining EMV Level 3 certification with each of the card brands in the US. Additionally, the solution supports First Data’s TransArmor P2PE functionality, protecting card data and reducing PCI scope.

“Our fully-integrated EMV solution reduces the costs and complexities typically associated with semi-integrated gateway and middleware solutions,” said Dave Mears, director, Crimson. “Retailers and developers are extended more control over the Equinox terminals to display advertising and promotions, show line-item purchase details, and even initiate customer feedback surveys via the large touch-screen display.”

“EMV has introduced complexities into software development and release cycles,” said Rob Hayhow, vice president, Equinox. “This integration with Crimson further underscores the importance of providing software developers with turnkey, certified payment solutions so that they can concentrate on the business of delivering innovative solutions to their customers.”
