D&H Adds 'White Glove Advantage,' Asset Tagging And More For Education VARs

The Distributor Continues its Support for Customers in the Education Market, Offering Enhanced Services That Make it Easier for VARs to Deploy Technology in School Districts

D&H Distributing, the leading North American computer products and consumer electronics distributor, announces it has enhanced its ongoing campaign for resellers selling into the education marketplace. This vertical has generated notable opportunity in 2014 due to efforts such as the administration’s Common Core initiative, which has created the need for increased technology in the classroom.

Much of this opportunity centers around sales of Chromebooks, which can be managed on a large scale through Google’s Chrome Management Console solution; and Microsoft’s Shape the Future campaign, through which the manufacturer is offering dramatically discounted pricing on the Windows operating system.

D&H is offering several services to expand its own support offering:

The White Glove Advantage Program: D&H will automatically enroll school districts in Google’s Chrome Management program, registering each unit with the necessary password and information. The district can then manage all their Chromebooks right out of the box. Students similarly can use their computers immediately, unhindered by the Chrome Management registration process.

Asset Tagging: When a VAR places an order for a school district, D&H will label each piece of equipment with detailed asset tags that classify units by school, department, model number, serial number, barcode—or any other criteria the individual district specifies. Labels are affixed before the hardware even leaves the D&H warehouse, enabling districts to accurately categorize, allocate and track their new hardware from the moment the shipment arrives.

NETGEAR’s Free Remote Site Survey: D&H’s education solution providers are being referred to this program to make detailed determinations concerning wireless deployment. On behalf of D&H and the VAR, a NETGEAR engineer visits an education site and compiles a report on access requirements, variables per building, connectivity needs, necessary materials, etc., laying the groundwork for an installation. Such reports are at no obligation and no cost, which means resellers can leverage the survey service as a lead-in to a discussion with end-customers.

The “Chrome Economics 101” template: The distributor recently added a customizable marketing brochure template on Chromebooks to its Partner Services resource library, to help resellers communicate this opportunity to district decision-makers.

“The idea is to make it easier for VARs to sell into this environment, to alleviate as many barriers as possible in what can be a complicated marketplace,” said Larry Staub, director of D&H’s education division. “We’re finding the opportunity is not just limited to large-tier resellers in expansive metro areas. There’s a significant market for SMB VARs to gain revenues through regional K-12 installations. As a distribution partner, we provide the guidance and resources that increase the reseller’s ability to capture the sale.”
