D&H Exceeds 13% Growth May-Oct. 2014, Looks To Servers And New Lines For 2015

New Developments Such as the Addition of Lenovo’s System X Servers Plus Additional Products in HP’s Enterprise Group; the MS Server 2003 Refresh; and the Internet of Things Will Drive Sales for 2015

D&H Distributing, the leading North American computer products and consumer electronics distributor, announces it has experienced an overall growth rate of 13.3% for period from May to October of 2014, exceeding the rate of distribution growth in the channel by more than twice the general average. Top-selling categories in 2014 included server products at 38% growth, plus double-digit increases in tablets, monitors, imaging solutions, notebooks and more.

Strong showings in categories such as server and networking products were aided by momentous end-of-service notifications that have been the focus of D&H’s training and support initiatives. This included the company’s campaign addressing Microsoft’s termination of support for the 11 year-old Server 2003 solutions, which will require significant network upgrades for companies throughout the SMB community. In addition, D&H saw strong IT sales in the education vertical due to nationwide directives such as Common Core, which the distributor supported via specific hands-on reseller programs including its White Glove service, plus webcasts and seminars. And the end-of-service deadline for Microsoft’s popular XP operating system, which elapsed in April, generated sales for D&H resellers in the first two quarters of 2014.

Going into 2015, D&H is now carrying two notable extensions to its current vendor lines, which the company expects to bolster growth: Additional products from HP’s Enterprise Group (EG) products, and Lenovo’s System X servers (formerly a popular IBM product family). Each of these will help D&H answer the ongoing call for new server solutions as the market continues to face end-of-life issues. D&H is focused on adding new resellers and expanding both vendors into its unique SMB customer base.

In addition, The Internet of Everything philosophy will continue to gain momentum, wherein consumers and employees are seeking a technological connection to everything from their office spaces to their home appliances to their own bodies. Products such as “DIY” (Do it Yourself) locks and thermostats; plus wearable activity and notification bracelets from vendors like Striiv and Fitbit are facilitating trends in these areas.

The support of additional HP Enterprise Group products makes D&H a “full line” HP distributor, extending its portfolio from this manufacturer to server, storage and networking products. This allows D&H to provide end-to-end HP solutions for its resellers as they grow within the SMB space and beyond. Along with other HP EG properties, HP’s ProLiant Gen9 servers feature plug-and-play installation and help end-users increase total cost of ownership, enhancing a network’s computing capacity up to three times the current server processing levels.

“D&H has spent the year helping resellers focus on unique market developments that present once-in-a-decade refresh opportunities. This has predicated a clear uptick in sales for our customer base,” said Jeff Davis, senior vice president of sales at D&H. “We’re glad to find that our efforts have been well executed, and we plan to stay ahead of these trends as they evolve. We envision 2015 to be another strong year for the channel as new categories such as wearables and 3-D printing mature, extending the reach of technology into new corners of our lives and workspaces. These innovations will continue to invigorate the industry.”
