DAVO Technologies Expands Management Team With The Hiring Of A Chief Solutions Officer

DAVO Technologies, a new Portland based technology company, announces that Heidi Ortiz, a solutions and sales tax industry veteran, has joined its management team as the Chief Solutions Officer.

Ms. Ortiz brings 20 plus years of experience in business consulting, sales tax and solutions engineering to the DAVO Technologies team. Her expertise is in process efficiency, product management, pre-sales engineering, systems implementation, sales and use tax compliance, automation and customer support. She has worked for some of the sales tax and accounting industries leaders, including Taxware, Avalara and Sage Software. Most recently Heidi, was at Taxware where she was an Enterprise Solutions Engineer who lead customer solutions design, product gap analysis and strategic sales initiatives for Sales, Use and Value Added Tax automation.

Prior to that, she was with Avalara, a Sales and Use Tax Solution where she was the Director of Strategic Alliances, a Pre-Sales Engineer and a Channel Manager. Heidi also held several positions including Product Marketing Manager, Sr. Technical Support Specialist, Technical Trainer and the Customer Loyalty Manager at Sage Software where she launched new technical products, implemented processes and procedures, focused on customer satisfaction and managed customer loyalty programs for the ERP manufacturer.

At DAVO, Ms. Ortiz will be focusing on automation for States to integrate the DAVO sales tax patented process, driving product requirements and technical solutions, establishing processes to support our integrations and merchants and implementing a best-practice go-to-market strategy.

“I believe that Davo Technologies patented process is a game changer for the payment processing industry. The DAVOTax product relieves merchants of the time consuming and ever changing sales tax return and remittance process and benefits the states by ensuring timely receipt of revenues. Other Davo products to be launched in the future will benefit other business models as well.”

According to David Joseph, Chairman and Co-Founder of DAVO Technologies, sales tax is a major portion of most state budgets, yet it is still collected using the same system that was put in place when sales tax was adopted over 85 years ago. “It is time to bring sales tax into the 21st century” says Joseph.

DAVO Technologies has developed a process that disrupts the status quo as to how sales tax is collected, filed and paid by retail merchants. Their technology automatically collects a merchant’s sales tax liability and files and pays the states directly through a patented streamlined remittance process. “Sales tax compliance is a major burden for many businesses, particularly small to mid-sized merchants. It is a responsibility from which they gain no benefit, yet have all the liability if they make a mistake,” said Owen Brown, CEO and Co-founder of DAVO Technologies. States rely on merchant compliance and antiquated systems to collect sales tax, often to sub-optimal results. DAVOTAX provides states and merchants with the tools to facilitate the seamless flow of sales tax from consumers to the State with little or no intercession from the merchant. DAVO’s goal is to do for sales tax what ADP and others have done for payroll taxes.

DAVO Technologies was awarded a Maine Technology Institute Development Loan and 630 Ventures Accelerator Award this past September to complete and bring to commercialization their DAVOTAX sales tax solution for retail merchants.
