D&H Ultrabooks Demo Zone Give Resellers An Early Look At Emerging Models

New Units from Lenovo, ASUS, Acer and Toshiba (Some Not Even Available to Ship Yet) Were at VARs Disposal at the D&H Mid-Atlantic Fall Show, Allowing Attendees to Rank Each Model

D&H Distributing, the major computer products and consumer electronics distributor, was proud to deliver an early look at five different models of the new "Ultrabook" format. These slim, light yet high-performance notebooks are the latest mobile product to emerge on the scene, offering easy portability, fast boot-up times thanks to SSD storage, longer battery lives, yet more business functionality than the typical tablet.

At the D&H Mid-Atlantic Fall 2011 Technology Show, D&H set up an "Ultrabook Demo Zone" where resellers could test out each of the models on display. Similar to the Tablet Demo Zone that was conducted at D&H's Boston Show this summer, attendees then were asked to rank the units according to which was Most Stylish, Most Innovative, Most Versatile and Most User-Friendly.

Five models were available for VARs' inspection. Four models from four different manufacturers were included in the rankings. Those included the Lenovo IdeaPad U300s, the ASUS ZENBOOK UX21E, the Acer Aspire S3 and the Toshiba Z835. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 was also available for demo, but was not officially included in the rankings since Lenovo was already represented by the newly-launched U300s. Some of these models, namely the Toshiba and the ASUS units, were not even available for shipping at the time of the demo, giving attendees an exclusive preview of these technologies.

"Our ability to provide a side-by-side sampling of units this early in the emergence of the category is a pretty exciting proposition," said Mary Campbell, vice president of marketing at D&H. "We love being able to deliver these unique opportunities to our VARs, along with hands-on knowledge of hundreds of other new products. It's a thank you for their loyalty and their business. Yet this kind of nascent product knowledge helps them grow, which is beneficial for all of us."
