Don't Leave Data Security To Chance — When Cloud-Based BDR Can Save The Day

The MSPAlliance predicts, this year, security will be one of the top concerns for both technical and non-technical users. This is no surprise considering that high-profile data breaches at Target, Home Depot, Lowes, and other retailers are making consumers increasingly aware of how vulnerable they can be to cyberattacks. Realistically speaking it is not a matter of if, but when the next data breach will occur, and this is driving businesses of all sizes to put the tools, technologies, and processes in place to prevent a cyberattack from happening to them.

While large enterprises generally have an abundance of resources to implement sophisticated solutions that will prevent or mitigate the impact of cyberattacks, SMBs can find it daunting to deal with new and emerging cyberthreats and ransomware viruses such as CryptoLocker and the infamous CryptoWall malware, which recently re-emerged from wherever it had been hiding, bringing with it another version of the devious malware — CryptoWall 3.0.

Some may take the do-it-yourself approach when it comes to dealing with ransomware and malware, while others may not even be aware that these threats exist. In fact, we have had a number of conversations with small businesses over the past month that are not currently working with a managed services provider (MSP), and virtually all of them were completely under-aware of the threats posed by ransomware. Their reaction boiled down to “hmmm, let’s hope that doesn’t happen to me!”
