GammaTech Computer Corp., a major international manufacturer and supplier of innovative notebook and tablet computers, has added to its award-winning line of fully rugged tablets. The new model, the T7Q, meets Military Standard 810G for drop, shock, spill, salt, fog, and freeze/thaw resistance; and meets IP-65 for protection against dust and water. The unit is an ideal, lightweight solution for virtually any outdoor environment such as transportation, field services, utilities, oil, gas and other types of mobile applications.
"Whether used on the road, in an office or at home, the lightweight and fully rugged T7Q offers exceptional peace of mind," stated Jen Chen, GammaTech president. "This new tablet has the reliability that lets users concentrate on their work without having to worry about physical or functional damage during extended, everyday use, even if everyday use is in harsh environments."
Perfect Tablet for Any Environment
At only 3-pounds and with ergonomic hand straps, the T7Q tablet is the perfect solution and size for a number of mobile professionals in any environment. On-the-move workers in the utilities, field services, and oil and gas industries can easily carry it from place to place and have easy access to not only the Internet but also their companies' virtual private network (VPN) while they are away from the office. It can also be used with an optional docking station in vehicles. The hot-swappable twin battery pack provides up to 10 hours of on-the-road power. With its rugged durability, the T7Q stands up to many heavy-duty, industrial applications such as in the transportation and fleet industries.
Choice of Intel Atom Processors
The fully rugged T7Q offers users the choice of two processors: either the Intel Atom processor N2600 (1.6GHz) or the Intel Atom processor N2800 (1.86GHz), both of which are made specifically for ultra-mobile devices. It also comes with Intel NM10 and GMA 3650 graphics chipsets, a DDR3 slot that offers 2GB of system memory, and a m-SATA SSD drive.
Customization to Meet Individual Needs
It comes standard with a 7" (1024x600) WSVGA TFT, LCD display with a resistive touch-screen panel, ambient light sensor with auto-adjust brightness, and LED backlighting. A sunlight-readable screen and digitizer are optional for bright-light usage in outdoor environments. Wireless and connectivity functions are provided by an Intel integrated Ethernet port and wireless LAN plus Bluetooth 4.0 support. The T7Q also comes with high-definition stereo audio and a 5.0 megapixel camera with GeoTagging support for those times, especially in the field, when a detailed, quality image is needed. Additionally, it features a G-Sensor with auto-rotation, e-Compass and Gyroscope for sophisticated navigation applications. Adding to its versatility are two user-programmable buttons and a host of options including a bar-code scanner, RFID reader, magnetic stripe reader, two I/O configurations, three expansion slot options, and a global positioning system (GPS) receiver for first-time trips or trips to hard-to-find locations.
When Security Matters
The T7Q tablet supports multiple security options that assure work is safe whether done in an office or in the field miles away from a secure building. Security features include TPM1.2 data security technology, BIOS built-in security, and a Kensington lock connector. It can also be put into one-click Stealth Mode and is Computrace compatible.
Durable Design Prevents Costly Repairs
The unit is packaged in a magnesium alloy top-and-bottom case that is 20 times stronger than ABS plastic. Its fully sealed design protects internal components, making it drop-proof, shock-proof, spill-proof, dust-proof, and watertight. That adds up to increased protection from damage caused by mishandling and accidental drops and bumps during transport. All of these extra protective measures help save users money by lowering the risk of expensive component repairs.
Pricing and Availability
The T7Q will be available in August through authorized GammaTech resellers nationwide, starting at $2,000. It is covered by a three-year warranty. As with all GammaTech products, it may be customized to customer specifications.
Additionally, it is available to federal, state, and local governmental agencies and departments via GammaTech's GSA contract. The company has contracts with NASA (SEWPS), NIH (ECS III), DHS (FIRST SOURCE), and Air Force (NetCents).
GammaTech was named a winner in Government Security News' 2010 and 2011 Homeland Security Awards in the Best Rugged Computers category.
