Global Convergence Inc. To Distribute LightPointe's Advanced Data Backhaul And Video Transmission Technologies

Connecting buildings with point-to-point radios and Free Space Optics

Global Convergence Inc. (GCI), a leading value-added distributor of emerging, innovative and disruptive technology for global IT services and solutions, has signed a global distribution agreement with LightPointe, a leading manufacturer of outdoor wireless bridges for high capacity data backhaul and video transmission.

The new partnership helps solution providers differentiate themselves in the rapid expansion of mobile devices, the emerging Internet of Things (IoT) and increasing requirements for mobile security. GCI will offer LightPointe’s 60 GHz and 70/80 GHz point-to-point radios, hybrid laser-radios (Free Space Optics), and Ultra Low Latency wireless backhaul bridges, which can provide faster-than-fiber connections between buildings or towers.

The distribution agreement also enhances GCI’s enterprise mobility portfolio, providing solution providers with another high-growth, high-demand technology to offer to their customers.

“Our solution providers count on us to identify the latest wireless technologies and to assist them with incorporating these solutions into their offerings,” said Dan Cooper, vice president of Mobility at GCI. “LightPointe’s high-performance outdoor data and video transmission solutions are another example of how GCI brings tomorrow’s technologies to our customers today.”

LightPointe is a pioneer in point-to-point broadband transmission products, and a leading manufacturer of all three major wireless bridge technologies, which enables GCI to offer its customers an unparalleled, objective choice of wireless backhaul options for any application. LightPointe’s point-to-point radios and Free Space Optics solutionsenable enterprises to reduce their monthly IT bill, increase capacity, and improve the management and security of their own network, which is essential in today’s age of cyber security threats and data breaches.

“We are excited to enter this distribution agreement with GCI, a leading provider of information technology products,” said John Taylor, vice president of sales at LightPointe. “GCI’s mobile solutions and enterprise-class services capabilities make them an ideal partner to help bring our new AireLink Series of 60 GHz wireless point-to-point (PtP) radios, 70/80 GHz long range backhaul radios, and highly secure, all-weather hybrid Free Space Optics bridges to their well-established base of valued customers.”
