Healthcare IT Experts Headline Smart VAR Summit
Five healthcare IT experts will present at the Smart VAR Healthcare Summit, powered by ScanSource and Business Solutions, on May 6 in New Brunswick, NJ.
The keynote speaker will be healthcare IT consultant Shahid Shah, who specializes in e-health, EHR/EMR, Meaningful Use, data integration, medical device connectivity, health informatics, and legacy modernization. Over the last 15 years, the health IT positions Shah has held include chairman of OSEHRA's Advisory Board, CTO for CardinalHealth's CTS unit (now CareFusion), CTO of two electronic medical records (EMR) companies, a chief systems architect at American Red Cross, architecture consultant at NIH, and SVP of healthcare technology at COMSYS.
Shah, also known as “The Healthcare IT Guy” from his HealthcareGuy.com blog, is the chairman of HealthIMPACT Conferences and president and CEO of Netspective Communications, an IT professional services and custom software development firm.
Shah will headline the Smart VAR Healthcare Summit morning session along with Business Solutions magazine editor-in-chief Mike Monocello and Health IT Outcomes editor-in-chief Ken Congdon. Monocello, a former IT reseller, has 12 years of channel experience and has interacted with hundreds of VARs, MSPs, and ISVs. Congdon has more than a decade of experience covering business information technology. He is a thought leader in the health IT space, speaking at industry conferences including HIMSS and the Panasonic Healthcare Symposium.
The highlight of the afternoon general session will be a panel of healthcare end users. Scheduled to participate on the panel are:
- Mark Roberts, enterprise manager of mobile technology for Yale New Haven Health System
- Linda Girgis, MD, physician and owner of Girgis Family Medicine
- Jim Shellhamer, technical system analyst of the mobility management group at Lehigh Valley Health Network
- Albert Ferreira, project manager of virtual care at Holy Cross Hospital
This first-of-its-kind Smart VAR Healthcare Summit will feature news on the latest trends in the healthcare vertical, secrets from successful healthcare VARs, and VAR opportunities in community and rural healthcare. The one-day event will also give VARs the opportunity to meet colleagues and connect with healthcare channel leaders, learn about new channel services, and meet vendors.
