Honeywell's Dolphin 6100 adds accurate, cost effective imaging capability to Hart's inventory management system

Honeywell recently announced that Hart Systems, a leading provider of technology-driven physical inventory management solutions, has selected the Dolphin 6100 mobile computer to be integrated into Hart's comprehensive offering. Hart combines proven technology, client-specific application software, real-time web-based reporting for immediate oversight and virtual control, and 24/7 client support to deliver a comprehensive self-scanning inventory management solution.

"As a company well recognized for delivering state-of-the-art technology and performance capabilities, we at Hart had very specific criteria in mind when choosing a mobile computing device to complement our offerings," said Ed Tonkon, CEO, Hart Systems, LLC. "We're confident in our decision to work with Honeywell. In fact, one of our biggest retailers has already experienced a very substantial increase in productivity since implementation of our joint solution – I'd call that a return on investment."

Selected specifically for its imaging capabilities, the Dolphin 6100 uses Honeywell's Adaptus Imaging Technology to aggressively read linear and 2D bar codes. Unlike laser-based solutions, Honeywell's imaging technology provides the capability to scan virtually any bar code including small codes found on reflective surfaces such as consumer electronics packaging, as well as hard to read and damaged codes – enabling a more seamless inventory management process. The Dolphin 6100 also delivers omnidirectional functionality for reading bar codes at virtually any angle or direction, allowing users to quickly move from one code to the next.

The Hart solution, complete with the 6100's imaging capabilities, delivers improved productivity, increased accuracy and significant cost savings unachievable with laser-based scanning devices typically used in retail.

"By pairing Honeywell's Dolphin 6100 with Hart's proprietary software and service delivery model, we will provide unmatched scan performance and productivity to some of the most successful retailers worldwide," said Andrew D'Amelio, sales vice president – the Americas, Honeywell Scanning & Mobility. "This collaboration will be well received in the industry, as both Honeywell and Hart are recognized as leading innovators in the retail technology space."

Through its high-speed wireless capabilities, the Dolphin 6100 empowers users to effectively manage the physical inventory process in real-time. Weighing only nine ounces, the device is ergonomically designed for easy, single-handed scanning by sales associates or back room inventory managers. The device is built on the reliable Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 operating platform, providing the flexibility needed to allow Hart's solution to be used along with complementary applications.

Hart Systems will be displaying the complete solution at the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) Loss Prevention, Auditing & Safety Conference in Orlando, Fla. on April 11-14, 2011 at booth #411.

Hart Systems LLC is a portfolio company of Topspin Partners LBO, a Long Island, NY based private equity fund.
