How Healthy Is The Healthcare IT Market?

Business Solutions asked channel executives to describe the health of the healthcare market in 2015 from a potential IT spend perspective.

Paul Caracciolo, chief healthcare officer at Nexus Connected Healthcare, says, “Healthcare IT spending is still robust and predicted to be so for the next several years. Organizations are under pressure to modernize in order to compete. And, make no mistake about it — healthcare is a very competitive market. Consumers are shopping around for healthcare. Access to information about operations, wait times and ability to find a physician, are all examples of critical functions an organization needs to provide.”

Garret Grajek, CSO of dincloud comments, “Healthcare organizations in North America spent over $34.5 billion on healthcare in IT in 2014 meeting healthcare regulations alone. Much of this spending was directly funded by the U.S. federal government to help institutions create a federally mandated healthcare information system — mandated by the HITECH (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health) Act. This spending is predicted to continue and increase in 2015 — with a whopping 10 to 15 percent growth in some areas such as analytics (e.g., Big Data).”
