How To Spot A Cloud Poser

Cloud computing enables people and companies to access applications from any computer. But the cloud has created a new group of “cloud posers,” software developers who make bold (and untrue) claims about the performance of the cloud-based applications they manage. Can you spot a cloud poser?

Here are five questions you can ask to help you ensure you work with a cloud pro and not a cloud poser:

  1. Four 9s Or Five? Cloud posers often make unrealistic claims about uptime such as promising you “five 9s” (99.999 percent) — which is not realistic. That's less than five and a half minutes of downtime per year. A cloud pro never promises more than four 9s (99.99 percent) of network availability.
