Infobelt Releases Orion 2.0 Information Lifecycle Management And Data Archiving Solution

Latest version of data archiving solution is built upon an open ILM framework to enable scalability for enterprise level clients

Infobelt, LLC, providers of leading edge data archiving and governance solutions, recently announced the release of version 2.0 of its Orion information lifecycle management (ILM) and data archiving solution. At its core, Orion enables companies to create compressed, encrypted artifacts from both structured and unstructured data. Infobelt’s milestone release of the Orion application helps significantly reduce the risk and cost associated with data archiving and governance. Unlike other archiving and ILM solutions, Orion 2.0 is a vendor-neutral, all-in-one framework that has the ability to interface with any type of data source or data destination.

"Heavily regulated industries like banking and healthcare spend billions of dollars to store and recall inactive data or applications in high risk storage environments," says Srini Mannava, Infobelt’s founder and CEO. "Our new Orion 2.0 application provides a more effective means of storing, recalling, and defensibly destroying late-stage data, which helps dramatically reduce risk, increase application performance, and slash storage costs."

Orion enables companies to create compressed, encrypted artifacts from both structured and unstructured data. This approach greatly reduces risk through improved governance of metadata such as retention schedules and chain of custody. With an immutable managed archive repository for digital records near the end of their lifecycle, companies can more quickly search and retrieve information online instead of via more costly physical means, such as tape. Orion’s data storage process also enables automatic disaster recovery.

Orion 2.0 is available as a software-only solution or a pre-configured hardware and software bundle that interfaces with ILM systems. The solution is available as both a client-hosted or cloud configuration. Members of Infobelt’s development team will be at Gigaom Structure Data 2014, March 19-20, in New York City, where they will be available to discuss the company’s offerings further.
