Ingram Micro And Lenovo Deliver New Channel Program To Boost Mobile Broadband Activation For Business And IT Partners

Making it easier for business partners to take advantage of mobile broadband technology, Ingram Micro Inc. recently announced a new, one-of-a-kind Mobile Broadband Activation Program for Lenovo's extensive portfolio of 3G and 4G-embedded laptops. On behalf of Lenovo, Ingram Micro is providing wireless activation services for a broad selection of ThinkPad laptops and models of the IdeaPad S10-3 netbook to U.S.-based channel partners for AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless networks.

"When it comes to laptops, high speed 3G and 4G wireless connectivity is a must have for businesses," says Robert Garry, Director of Mobility, Ingram Micro U.S. "By tapping into the unique activation services available only from the Ingram Micro Mobility Division, Lenovo is making it easier and more profitable for its channel partners to sell and support Lenovo laptops."

For business customers, wireless technology has grown increasingly important, requiring more bandwidth for live streaming video, on-demand applications and virtual meetings. According to market research, the opportunity for embedded broadband is likely to triple this year and next and reach an estimated high of 2.5 billion connected data-centric devices worldwide in 2014.

"We've created this program to give resellers another way of generating additional revenue and to help them drive demand from small to medium business customers for mobile broadband-enabled laptops," says Jay McBain, director, Small and Medium Business, Lenovo. "With the support of the Ingram Micro Mobility Division, channel partners have an end-to-end solution that not only increases their overall profitability, but enhances their value add in the marketplace."
