Mobile device company Intermec unveils imaging technology with 50 times the motion tolerance of market competitors.

The SG20 family of handheld scanners features the industry's fastest 2D imaging technology for highly responsive omnidirectional scanning.

Designed to speed up the bar code scanning process in applications that do not require a high level of ruggedness, the SG20 scanner minimises the time and effort required to read a bar code by providing more than 50 times the motion tolerance of competitive scanners.

In addition, the ergonomic design of the SG20 series sets it apart from traditional gun-shaped handheld scanners.

Optimised for user comfort, the SG20 features a natural smooth grip and trigger location ideal for constant, everyday use.

The SG20 also provides choice: Models are available with 1D linear or 2D high performance imagers and either Bluetooth® cordless or corded connectivity.

All models integrate with point of sale systems, personal computers, healthcare information and warehouse management systems.

Checkout Process
Designed to provide highly responsive and accurate scanning during the checkout process, the reliable SG20 scanner ensures all common 1D and 2D bar codes are scanned easily and consistently so customers can be served quickly.

The SG20 is perfect for retail environments where user comfort and counter space is at a premium, and the large multi-colour LED provides a bright visual cue to confirm a successful scan.

Healthcare
Whether at the admitting desk, nurses' station, patient bedside, lab or pharmacy—the SG20 healthcare model minimises the time and effort to read a bar code, improving productivity while ensuring important verification processes are completed.

The disinfectant-ready housing of the SG20, when combined with a protocol of frequent disinfecting, can minimise the spread of infectious diseases while providing years of reliable scanning under these conditions.

"Intermec's SG20 barcode scanner addresses the industry demand for sophisticated scanning technology in retail and healthcare environments," says VDC Research Group Barcode Analystsa Richa Gupta.

"This new scanner reinforces Intermec's position as a key player in the market for high performance scanners."

In Australia and New Zealand, Intermec is focused on expanding its range to incorporate offerings that cater to a diverse range of sectors, including retail, healthcare and traditional supply chain operations.
