UC Solution For SMB Market Unveiled At Varnex

SYNNEX announced it is now offering a compact unified communications (UC) solution for SMBs. The solution, designed for businesses with fewer than 50 users, embeds Avaya IP Office Server Edition software on the Lenovo ThinkCentre Tiny Desktop. The solution includes the IP Office Feature Server, Voicemail Pro Server, Avaya one-X Portal and Mobility Server, Solution Administration Web Portal, IP Office Server Edition Manager, Voicemail Pro Client, and Client and DevConnect applications such as IP Office Softphone and DevLink.

Axcient Releases Free Version

Axcient, a cloud-based Recovery-as-a-Service (RaaS) provider, announced a free version of its Virtual Appliance product. This gives organizations local replication and recovery elements of Axcient’s enterprise-class RaaS solution at no cost for an unlimited amount of time. With Axcient Free, companies get up to 20 TB of free local protection for up to three critical servers. Companies with greater needs can use the Axcient Free solution to try out the product before upgrading to the all-in-one, cloud-based platform.

RapidFire Tools Launches HIPAA IT Compliance Tool

RapidFire Tools released a new compliance tool, the Network Detective HIPAA Compliance module. The solution provides IT professionals with tools to automatically prepare the technical documents associated with the IT security requirements of the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The tool generates the primary documents that healthcare providers and their business associates are required to maintain, and users can edit the reports to include additional information as needed.

Intronis Presents Spring Release ‘14

Intronis, a provider of cloud backup solutions for the IT channel, launched its Spring Release ’14. New platform enhancements include expanded support for physical imaging. Intronis partners are now able to back up servers, laptops, and desktops locally, and provide their clients with local image-level, P2V (physical-to-virtual), and object level recovery. An additional enhancement enables Intronis partners to back up Hyper-V VMs (virtual machines) to the Intronis Cloud, to a local device, or both. Hyper-V backups are stored and encrypted, and partners can save any number of historical versions of VM backups using Advanced Archiving rules. Other enhancements in this release include support for Exchange 2013 and VMware vSphere version 5.5 and a refreshed user interface.

CompTIA Announces Open Access

CompTIA launched a new open access model. A “registered user” level gives individuals access — at no cost— to channel education, industry research, news, and tools designed to help channel members achieve their business goals. Registered users also will be invited to participate in monthly calls with CompTIA communities — including groups focused on cloud, mobility, managed services, IT security, and advancing women in IT.

“Premier membership” is available only to solutions providers, vendors, and distributors, and companies serving the IT channel. Premier members receive exclusive business tools and priority access to all of CompTIA’s research, training, and education resources. Among other rights and privileges, premier members only can vote or hold board positions and have complementary registrations to CompTIA events.  All current CompTIA members automatically receive premier member status.4
