MicroPower Technologies Inc., an award-winning provider of surveillance solutions optimized for rapid, cost-effective deployment, recently announced the addition of a range-booster antenna as an optional add-on to the Helios surveillance system. The new antenna extends the data transmission range of the outdoor Helios surveillance camera, allowing seamless transmission of video up to two miles line-of-sight.
The range-booster antenna increases signal sensitivity by 16 times, yielding greater system performance. It extends the allowable distance between the hub and the hub antenna up to 200 feet, allowing users to place the hub antenna farther from the hub platform with minimal signal loss. The enhanced distance factor extends camera placement options to include more remote and/or geographically challenging locations.
The extended-distance antenna also further increases signal efficiency in high-RF noise environments for even more streamlined and secure data transmission. Lightning suppression is added to ensure consistent operation in volatile weather conditions. The range-booster antenna option replaces the Helios camera’s directional antenna, but is still powered by a single 1.2-square-foot solar panel.
“We continually re-evaluate our products to provide customers additional versatility to place cameras closer to potential areas of risk,” said Dave Tynan, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, MicroPower Technologies. “Today’s surveillance user expects systems to be scalable and flexible to address the changing security environment, where protection must be mobile, cost-effective and secure. The range-booster antenna is another tool to meet the evolving and dynamic needs of our customers.”
The Helios surveillance platform is a wireless video security solution that does not require cabling for power or data transmission. This unique approach removes the restrictions found with traditional cameras and allows users to place cameras at the point of highest risk without the added complexity of trenching or pulling data or power cables.
Throughout 2013, MicroPower Technologies has re-affirmed its commitment to deliver reliable and cost-effective wireless video surveillance solutions that create superior value for its customers across key vertical markets by reducing deployment and infrastructure costs. In December, the company launched an updated Web site that features customer-centric information and support as well as a new MicroPower blog. This resource will enable customers to continually learn about the company’s technology innovations, overall market trends and more.
