Experts advise VARs on how to turn payment security from an unwanted chore to a revenue generator.

For years, many VARs viewed payment processing as a nice recurring revenue stream that required little in the way of management, expense, or stress. However, with the rise in importance of payment security, the creation of numerous standards, and revisions to those standards, being in the payments game today takes work; so much so that there are some retail and restaurant IT VARs who now question whether they should stay in the payments business at all. Where these VARs and others err is in assuming that the extra effort concerning security is just something they have to tackle on their own, rather than turning the situation into a new revenue-generating opportunity.
