New CompTIA Advisory Councils Align With IT Channel Ecosystem

New 2016 advisory councils represent the Information and Communications Technology industry across four key areas – distributors, partners, vendors and end-users

CompTIA, the information technology (IT) industry association, recently announced details around its new 2016 CompTIA Advisory Councils.

The four Advisory Councils include the Distributor Advisory Council, Partner Advisory Council, Vendor Advisory Council and the newly formed End-User Commission, which will provide CompTIA and its membership with increased visibility into the full range of the IT sales cycle.

“CompTIA’s advisory councils have a rich history of serving as thought leaders and bringing forward strategic insights that help guide and shape our industry and communities, as well as influence and inspire our board of directors, the CompTIA leadership team and our administrative staff,” said Annette Taber, vice president, industry strategies, CompTIA.

“Realigning our advisory councils to reflect the four primary segments of the IT channel –distributors, partners, vendors and end-users – will help keep the councils focused and empowered to develop and execute upon projects and initiatives that are of key importance to the market segments they represent,” continued Taber.

Membership in CompTIA Advisory Councils is by “invitation only” and participants must be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge and expertise gained from multiple channel leadership roles. The four new CompTIA Advisory Councils are comprised of more than 80 industry executives, representing a cross-section of distributor, IT solution provider, vendor and end-user organizations. Advisory Councils Announce New Initiatives and New Leadership
As part of the new charter, CompTIA’s Advisory Councils share key initiatives and goals designed to advance the IT industry forward. These include promoting the business relevance of IT, bridging the gap between business and technology, and sharing best practices around how to build a successful hybrid cloud practice.

“Our advisory councils work on behalf of the industry to identify and address key inflection points including cloud computing, managed services, program best practices and business model transformation,” said Taber. “Collectively these councils provide CompTIA with further external validation that our educational initiatives are in alignment with the needs of our members, and the broader IT industry as a whole.”

To help ensure success, CompTIA also appointed IT channel industry veteran Ken Presti as director of advisory councils. In this role, Presti seeks to raise the visibility and voice of those within the CompTIA Advisory Councils and serves to help the councils drive positive change.

“We are delighted to have Ken on board to help guide the focus and efforts of our advisory councils,” said Taber. “With nearly 20 years of industry experience, Ken understands the channel, its key concerns, values and means of influence. His knowledge and expertise will prove invaluable in helping our advisory councils expand their relevance within the IT channel and influence decisions at the highest levels within the IT industry.”
