New Networking Appliance Delivers Ultra High-Speed Wi-Fi Access for Hospitality, Transportation and Enterprises

Baltimore, MD (Marketwire) - HITEC Booth # 712 -- Nomadix, Inc., the innovator and pioneer of public access gateways, today announced the AG 5800, a high-performance access gateway to meet the growing demands for bandwidth. Designed to extend a wired or Wi-Fi network to create a public Internet access network, the AG 5800 is intended for medium to large sized venues, such as hotels, airports, enterprises, and convention centers. Its scalability supports anywhere from 250 up to 4,000 simultaneous devices without any required change of hardware or software design and enables organizations to add more devices as needed.

The low-profile AG 5800 comes in the Nomadix green enclosure and is a next generation gateway platform that ensures optimum up-time. Unlike server based solutions, the AG 5800 is based on the VxWorks real-time, multi-tasking operating system and is architected to run faster using less processing power. Built upon Intel's high-performance processors and communication technology, the AG 5800 sports built-in flash memory and contains the proven Nomadix Service Engine (NSE) Core Software, making it a dedicated network appliance that keeps Internet traffic flowing.

"To address the growing demands for bandwidth, from the BYOD movement to road warriors with multiple mobile devices to the trend to off-load cellular networks, we realize that venues like large hotels are in need of more powerful solutions to service and manage that bandwidth demand," said Fred Reeder, chief commercial and operating officer of Nomadix. "The AG 5800 is an ultra high-performance appliance that is designed to meet these challenges and provide users with a superior Internet experience."

Equipped with a range of bandwidth management tools, the AG 5800 ensures that the quality of the connection is optimum and that each user gets fair access to bandwidth. Bandwidth can be managed by group, subscriber or device, or a combination of all three, and supports data offloading. Regardless of user load, the AG 5800 can operate at near wire speed and offers new NSE features with increased computational intensity. It is designed for intensive usage while supporting a Gbit WAN port and four LAN ports and can fit in any environment that uses a rack mount.

The AG 5800 also offers advanced security for network protection with ICMP packet blocking. Enhanced by utilizing Session Rate Limiting (SRL) to manage Denial of Service (DOS) attacks, the AG 5800 includes URL filtering, centralized radius authentication, and iNAT technology that allows multiple VPN tunnels to provide users with seamless connection at higher levels of security. Additionally, the AG 5800 provides the ability to centrally monitor responsible usage and set policies to securely manage user access.

The AG 5800 is immediately available. For more information, including pricing, please contact Nomadix at +1.818.597.1500 or visit www.nomadix.com.
