On A Scale Of 1 To 10... How Important Are Reviews?

“What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” Sorry, that famous statement just isn’t true anymore. Too many people talk and even more people listen. Dozens of products and companies were reviewed at RSPA’s recent RetailNOW expo. They showed up on industry websites, Twitter and elsewhere on the internet. Reviews, shared on review sites and social networks, can yield some great benefits for businesses. Unfortunately for many businesses, another famous statement - “If you don’t have anything to say, don’t say anything at all’ - has also fallen out of practice. People share the good and the bad. What people say about your business matters.

Over 75% of people use online reviews to pick a local business to patronize. 1 58% of consumers trust a business that has positive online reviews. 2 72% trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations. Consumer reviews are trusted twelve times more than a business’s own description of itself.
