At RetailNOW 2015, APG Cash Drawer hosted a panel of retail industry thought leaders who shared their insights on tablet point of sale (POS).

The panel discussed topics including EMV, Payment Card Industry (PCI) security, encryption, securing wireless networks, semi-integrated solutions, how to manage peripherals, and how to transition clients from fixed POS to tablet POS.

The session, moderated by Stephen Bergeron, VP of global marketing for APG, included commentary from Adam Perella, 403 Labs; Justin Zeigler, Datacap Systems; David Gosman, Heartland Payments; Bob Grabowski, Honeywell; Eric Lecesne, ID Tech; and Tom Kettell, Epson.

During the panel discussion, Zeigler, business development/marketing at Datacap Systems, commented, “We’re in an age today where a lot of new point of sale entrants are selling direct through websites, whether it’s browser-based or tablet-based point of sale. It’s really important for VARs to take on a technological consultancy role and really understand the needs of each specific merchant to be able to rapidly react with mobility, EMV solutions, etc., and to really be able to provide a solution to fit that customer who doesn’t necessarily have the ability to understand what technology works best for them and what’s available in the marketplace. It’s important for VARs to take on that role and really know their customers.”
