Award-winning software packages now compatible with many popular tablet devices, includes new signature capture and other mobile features
Pearl River, NY – pcAmerica, a leading developer of retail and restaurant point of sale software, has added new tablet-ready versions of its award-winning point of sale software solutions, Cash Register Express™ (CRE) and Restaurant Pro Express™ (RPE), to its product lineup.
CRE and RPE have been optimized for tablets and the software is compatible with many pieces of tablet hardware, including the HP Elitepad. As the tablets are running Windows 8, a standard Microsoft operating system, the tablet editions of the POS software still support a full peripheral set including pole displays, weight scales and pin pads.

The tablet-based CRE and RPE software packages include several enhancements for working on a tablet, including on-screen signature capture that can be performed using a finger, without requiring a stylus. The software automatically saves signatures in the database so they can be pulled up for future reference. It also includes the ability to e-mail receipts, or alternatively route printed receipts to a nearby printer. The enhanced version has been tested with additional mobile peripherals from pcAmerica’s partners, which are expected to be released to market in the near future.
The tablet software also includes all of the same features as pcAmerica’s complete robust stationary solution, such as inventory tracking, scheduling and time clock functions, menu planning capabilities, gift cards, mobile payments, loyalty programs, and various integrations including payroll and eCommerce platforms.
“The tablet solution gives our users a lot of freedom — they can process a transaction anywhere in the store or restaurant and go through all the steps, right down to emailing the receipt —without having to go back to a traditional terminal,” said Mr. Gosman. “It’s so versatile that people can use it as a complete mobile solution, sit it on a countertop or some combination of both.”
Even though the new setup is compact, its flexible setup options give users the choice of a variety of peripherals. Several scanners and magnetic strip readers are certified for use with the software for scanning bar codes and swiping credit cards.
