Pitfalls To Avoid With Cloud Migration

By Krishnamoorthy , Product Marketing, , Vembu Technologies

There are a lot of things to consider while migrating data from one cloud service to another. Some important key points to keep in mind are cloud security, storage cost, back-end recovery options, vendor reliability, data transfer speed, and SLA (service level agreement) terms. Being knowledgeable in all of these areas can help you prepare for a smooth transition and will ensure data stays in a safe and secure.

Cloud Security

Data security is extremely important. There should be a secured user interface that enables the user to access their data. Unauthorized access must be prevented and any sensitive information or critical data being stored must be encrypted. There are many types of encryption available so be sure to compare encryption methods when looking at different cloud providers. The best encryption method to date is AES 256-bit military grade encryption.

There are also cloud providers that offer HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) compliance depending on the type of data that is stored on their cloud servers. Staying compliant with these requirements can help your client avoid security breaches and lower their overall risk of storing data externally.
