POS-As-A-Service In Action
By The Business Solutions Network
This virtual VAR received a referral from one of its software partners that led to a recurring revenue hardware-as-a-Service deal.
Today’s new breed of POS VAR wouldn’t fit the mold that was created over the past few decades. Whereas old-school VARs would often rep a single make of POS system, there are some today that are taking advantage of the disruption caused by the numerous solutions that have flooded the market over the past few years. Such is the case with POS Portal. According to Josh Johnstone, corporate marketing director for POS Portal, the company is a “virtual VAR” that sells hardware direct to merchants through referral relationships with ISVs, ISOs, and other VARs. The result of this arrangement is that POS Portal is having success in ways VARs of old couldn’t due to the market conditions of today. A good example of this success can be seen in a recent installation the VAR performed for a restaurant in Fredericksburg, VA.
