Creditcall Receives 3rd EMV Cert From First Data

Creditcall recently announced it has been certified by First Data to accept EMV transactions via its PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment gateway using Ingenico Group’s iPP 320 smart terminal and ChipDNA, an EMV SDK (software development kit) for Windows and Linux. “With this latest certification, Creditcall is up to three EMV certifications with First Data for multiple PINpads, which expands on the freedom of choice we provide to our ISV and developer partners,” says Lars Pedersen, CEO at Creditcall. “It lets our partners secure more opportunities and grow faster.”

ChipDNA brings EMV chip-card acceptance to tablets, smartphones, and traditional PIN pads, as well as e-commerce. It comes with a reporting and management tool, a terminal management system (TMS), and point-to-point encryption (P2PE) for the highest level of cardholder data protection.

Panasonic Unveils 2 New Toughpad Models

Panasonic added two new rugged handheld tablets to its portfolio of enterprise-grade mobile devices — the Toughpad FZ-F1 and FZ-N1. These 4.7-inch Android and Windows devices feature a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and are designed for applications such as inventory management, shipping and receiving, delivery routing and parcel tracking, retail store line busting, and bar code medication administration.

The units feature an ergonomically designed, angled rear bar code reader that allows the user to scan items without bending at the elbow or wrist while also being able to clearly read the screen. This purpose-built feature was designed to improve productivity and reduce the potential for repetitive strain injuries. In addition, the Panasonic device comes with bar code reader activation buttons on either side for use by left- or right-handed workers. Other purpose-built features include a glove-enabled, multitouch, sunlight viewable display with a rain-sensing mode that delivers accurate operation, even in inclement weather.

Additionally, the Toughpad FZ-F1 and FZ-N1 feature a drop rating of 6 feet and have also passed a tumble test that saw the devices endure 2,000 consecutive 3.3-foot drops. The devices are fully sealed against dust and are also submersible, in up to 3.3 feet of water for 30 minutes, meeting IP65 and IP67 certification requirements.

Loftware Releases Print Server 11.0

Loftware recently announced its version 11.0 release of Loftware Print Server (LPS) and Loftware Label Manager (LLM). LPS 11.0 includes a new Printer Groups feature that improves performance and eases printer management compared to past versions. Users can specify printer groups to segment high-traffic printers apart from low-traffic printers and then allocate system resources to the groups that require the most computing power to provide faster label printing where it’s most needed.

New Text Box capabilities reduce label design effort by allowing the application to dynamically size fonts for variable text fields where different amounts of text need to be printed within a finite space. This empowers users to avoid the time and expense of creating different labels for each scenario. Vertical alignment, as well as adjustable line and paragraph spacing, can be defined within the interface, further streamlining and saving time in the design process.

Loftware Print Server 11.0 also introduces a native PCL 5c printer driver. The PCL 5c driver supports color label printing to a myriad of inkjet and office printers. With this native driver, LPS 11.0 optimizes performance, minimizes network traffic, and reduces maintenance by eliminating the need to install Windows drivers.

Star Micronics Introduces New POS Receipt Printer

Star Micronics recently unveiled its new TSP100III receipt printer. The unit is offered with WLAN connectivity, supporting 802.11b/g/n with 2.4GHz, and includes an internal power supply, power cables, complete mounting kits, and paper roll. Star has also added an additional USB type A connector to power a tablet or mobile device. Additionally, the TSP100III prints up to twice the speed of its previous model at 43 receipts per minute and includes a guillotine auto-cutter and “drop-in and print” paper loading.

When it is combined with its futurePRNT Windows software, users can enhance their printed receipts to add graphics (logos and coupons), multiple copies, or use the text processing function to replace printed information or trigger a coupon, and more. Finally, the TSP100III can also be integrated with Star Micronics AllReceipts digital receipt application, allowing customers to manage their receipts digitally and retailers to receive instant feedback on customer satisfaction.

Mercury And Element Are Now Vantiv Integrated Payments

We knew it was coming sooner or later. The time is now. Vantiv announced recently that Mercury Payment Systems and Element Payment Services will now be known as Vantiv Integrated Payments. While both companies have been subsidiaries for nearly two years, they will now go to market under the single Vantiv brand.

Lest you think this is just a name change, Vantiv says partners and merchants will have additional benefits, including faster funding, better merchant reporting, access to American Express OptBlue, deeper connections to the card brands, and the enhanced Vantiv Advantage Partner Program.

Despite the changes, Matt Taylor, group president of integrated payments and emerging channels at Vantiv, reminds us that the people, products, and customer service that Mercury and Element partners have known for years remain unchanged.
