Creditcall, Miura Unveil New Integration

Creditcall and Miura Systems recently announced that retail developers, ISVs, and VARs can now integrate the Miura M007 mPOS PINpad into Windows- and Linux-based retail POS infrastructure, in addition to iOS- and Android-based mPOS solutions, by using Creditcall ChipDNA SDKs.

Today, retailers see the value in mixing traditional, often existing, Windows-based fixed POS infrastructure with phone- and tablet-based SmartPOS solutions, which often run on iOS or Android-based operating systems. This often means card transaction reporting and management is run on multiple platforms, making it difficult to track all payments in one place. With Creditcall’s omni-channel transaction reporting and management tool, all data can be viewed at a glance or in detail, refunds can be issued, performance measured, and detailed reports built.

The M007 can be connected to a high-volume, fixed-lane POS system through its countertop docking station, which incorporates a wired USB connection to the POS terminal PC. It can also be integrated with smart devices such as tablets or smartphones via Bluetooth.

Agilysys Introduces New POS Mobile Tablets

Agilysys recently announced the availability of its InfoGenesis Flex Series 3 tablets, a new POS mobile solution built specifically for enterprise customers. Designed for use with InfoGenesis POS software, the 8” and 10” tablets use commercial-grade components and the Windows 8.1 Embedded Industry Pro (64-bit) operating system. Features of the InfoGenesis Flex Series 3 tablet include a 160-degree viewing angle for 8.3” screens and a 170-degree viewing angle for 10.1” screens; an 800:1 contrast ratio; 33 percent longer battery life compared with previous Flex offerings to keep staff productive, even when Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled; and enhanced Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity via a specialized antenna to reduce dropped signals. Additionally, the Flex Series 3 tablets are hardened to withstand the rigors of real-world POS environments. The unit is resistant to spills, splashes, and light rain, can function in a wide range of operating temperatures (from 14˚ F to 122˚ F), and can withstand 5.9’ drops (with available protective case) and up to 3.3’ drops (without a case).

Bematech Releases Bemacash Restaurant Software

Capitalizing on the mobile POS interest in the industry, Bematech recently announced a restaurant version of its Bemacash Android-based POS software. Bemacash Restaurant is what you’d expect from the latest generation of POS software. The cloud-based software features an offline mode and accommodates customizable seating and table management including bar seating.  The system also provides reporting and table management tools that show customer turnover rates in real time. Additional features include tip control/payout, open tabs, delivery, split checks, inventory control, and the ability to clock in/out. Additionally, the Bemacash system is EMV, NFC, and Apple Pay-ready. Bemacash Restaurant can also be used and customized for bars, diners, pizzerias, and delivery and takeout.

Future POS Certifies To Vantiv For EMV

Future POS has partnered with Vantiv Integrated Payments to introduce a fully integrated EMV processing solution for the United States market. This new, EMV-enabled interface is available with Future POS’s Future Fusion product. This EMV-enabled interface includes end-to-end encryption as well as the ability to accept payments made with NFC (near field communication) technology with apps such as ApplePay and Google Wallet. This solution will work with Future POS’ latest version of Future Fusion and can be utilized with the Verifone VX 805.

Vantiv’s new semi-integrated EMV solution for Future POS also includes integrated gift cards. Whereas many solutions are requiring separate MSRs (magnetic stripe readers) to process gift cards, this solution allows the EMV device to do both credit and gift.

John Giles, president of Future POS, says this new solution not only protects merchants from fraudulent cards, but also protects them from other disputes. “The alarming trend we have seen is that the chargebacks to merchants that were supposed to be only for fraudulent cards has been extended to include virtually all charge disputes,” he says. “We had a restaurateur who had $15,000 in chargebacks simply because they didn’t have an EMV reader and the cardholder disputed the charges. What was going to originally be an insignificant amount of chargebacks to restaurateurs has turned into a crippling amount of real liability in a very short period of time. We owe it to our customers to make sure they are protected from an onslaught of chargebacks, valid or otherwise.”

TSYS, Handpoint To Offer Mobile EMV

TSYS has certified Handpoint’s mobile EMV solution, which is designed to enable partners with the ability to offer semi-integrated EMV on iOS, Android, and Windows devices. Relatively new to the U.S., Handpoint’s semi-integrated offering provides precertified EMV payments to ISVs. This solution enables integration to a range of card readers and all payment types with point-to-point encryption (P2PE) through a few lines of code.

Using a semi-integrated architecture, exchanges between the PIN pad and POS are limited to non-sensitive data. With an integration to Handpoint, ISVs entirely avoid lengthy EMV certifications, and PCI compliance is simplified. Additionally, Handpoint is fully certified by all the major card brands.

Merchant Link Launches EMV For Oracle iPOS

Merchant Link recently announced that it has addressed EMV for Oracle Hospitality’s (previously MICROS) Restaurant iPOS Suite, including 3700, 9700, Simphony 1, and Simphony 2. Certified with Oracle Hospitality for point-of-sale, Merchant Link’s suite of products closes the loop on security by securing data in flight and data at rest, and by responding to card-present fraud. It accomplishes this through TransactionVault (tokenization), TransactionShield (point-to-point encryption), and TransactionLink (EMV).

TransactionVault is a tokenization solution that removes cardholder data from merchants’ systems and stores it in a secure, hosted “vault” away from the business and protected from hackers. TransactionShield encrypts cardholder data using industry-recognized standards and methods, rendering data unreadable and unusable to cyber criminals. TransactionLink addresses acceptance of new forms of electronic payment without changes to the integrated POS system, including EMV.

D-Link Launches New 5-Megapixel Outdoor Cameras

D-Link recently unveiled two new five-Megapixel day/night IP cameras to supplement its line of professional IP surveillance and security products. Supporting 2560x1920 resolution and digital WDR (wide dynamic range) image enhancement in environments with uneven or difficult lighting, these cameras capture more detail than traditional IP cameras, which is especially useful when viewing items such as vehicle license plates, faces, and currency. In low-light situations, the IR (infrared) cut filter automatically slides out of the way to use all available light. Both cameras also have built-in IR LED illuminators, allowing the cameras to keep watch even in complete darkness.

With two form factors available — an indoor/outdoor dome (DCS-6517) and an indoor/outdoor bullet (DCS-7517) — the cameras provide real-time video compression using the H.264 and MJPEG codecs and support three separate profiles for simultaneous video streaming and recording. This versatility enables a wide variety of security applications, such as monitoring public areas, enforcing access control to restricted areas, deterring criminal activity, or monitoring inventory.

Both cameras use IP66-rated weatherproof housings along with built-in heating and cooling capabilities to ensure reliable operation from -40˚ F to 122˚ F. In addition, the DCS-6517 dome camera offers IK10 vandal-proof housing to protect it from damage when mounted in public areas.
