ProviDyn Debuts Desktop As A Service Offering To Drive Enterprise Productivity And Savings

ProviDyn

ProviDyn, a provider of IT support, strategy and services for small and medium-sized businesses and nonprofits, recently unveiled its newest offering, Desktop as a Service (DaaS). With DaaS, organizations can equip their personnel with an affordable, up-to-date, Windows 7 virtual desktop experience that can run from any Internet-connected location or computing device―smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop. The cloud-based desktops are integrated with each client-company’s own infrastructure, affording remote access to corporate data and applications.

“DaaS gives companies and their employees a secure, maintenance-free desktop interface, eliminating the need to upgrade or replace aging desktop hardware,” said ProviDyn President and CEO Hamish Davidson. “If a device has access to a browser-based Internet connection, it can run DaaS.”

ProviDyn’s DaaS offering is built on a secure, proven technology―VMware’s Horizon DaaS―and is completely device agnostic. The virtual desktops can be provisioned rapidly (in as little as an hour) and incrementally, enabling companies to deploy only as many desktops as they need at a given time.

Virtual desktops also transform the expense of desktop productivity from a capital expenditure (CapEx) to an operating expense (OpEx). This shift makes DaaS budgeting predictable and lets firms write off the cost of their desktops in the year of use. All support for ProviDyn DaaS is provided in the monthly fee, as well.

“Even though DaaS desktops are a perfect solution for companies with remote, seasonal or contract workers, some of our customers have replaced all their primary desktops with DaaS for the convenience and savings it offers,” said Davidson. “In addition, they are extremely popular with firms that allow BYOD [bring your own device] but don’t want to sacrifice data security and control.”
