Some managed services providers (MSPs) are still on the fence about Microsoft Office 365.  Here are five reasons for them to take the leap — sooner rather than later.  

  1. It's simply a better model for email and collaboration. MSPs are in business because there are many applications that organizations need, but either can't or don’t want to manage themselves. Office applications are no exception. In fact, from an SMB perspective, Office 365 has a number of advantages vs. deploying and managing Office applications on premise including a superior feature set: scale, reduced complexity, and ease of management.
  2. It’s a proven commodity. Office 365 is no longer a beta product that Microsoft is using to test interest in the cloud. It has an established and growing customer base because it offers superior features and performance. Given the choice between Exchange on premise and Office 365, many customers will choose the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)-based Office 365. And Microsoft has made it clear that it is firmly behind it and in for the long haul.
  3. It’s mission critical — to your customers. Mail and collaboration apps are absolutely fundamental to the operation of any organization. If is unavailable, the sales team is impacted.  But if email goes down, the entire organization takes a huge productivity hit. Office 365 presents a golden opportunity for any MSP to make itself a more strategic partner to its customers by managing and ensuring a mission-critical application and service. 
  4. It’s mission-critical — to Microsoft. Microsoft is betting on Office 365 as the future of Office. If that’s the stance of the company that owns more than 80% share of the enterprise Office application market, shouldn’t you be betting on it too?
  5. It’s the future. The combination of the market need with healthy competition in the marketplace will drive significant adoption of cloud office suites over the next five years.  And as customers adopt and become comfortable running these applications in the cloud, it will drive follow-on adoption of other cloud/SaaS offerings.  Given its leadership position in the market today, Office 365 seems like a smart place to start.
