The Retail Solutions Providers Association (RSPA) announces its appointment to the 2013-2015 PCI Security Standards Council Board of Advisors. The Primary Representative for the RSPA nomination is RSPA President and CEO, Joseph Finizio.
Appointment to the Board of Advisors represents an important opportunity for RSPA to bring the voice of its membership to this cross-industry group. As part of the Board of Advisors, RSPA will represent the PCI community by providing strategic and technical guidance to the PCI Security Standards Council that reflects the varied and unique industry perspective of those across the payment chain. In addition to advising on standards development, as part of the Board of Advisors, RSPA will play a critical role in soliciting feedback and ideas, contributing to Special Interest Groups (SIGs), and helping the Council fulfill its mission to raise awareness and adoption of PCI Standards.
"As an open and global standards body our success is dependent upon the active involvement of the global payments community. And our Board members play an integral role in helping drive this participation and ensuring that the interests of the wider community are reflected in the work that we're doing," said Bob Russo, general manager, PCI Security Standards Council. "Once again we are encouraged to see the breadth of industries and geographies represented in this group and look forward to working together to improve payment security globally."
"Appointment to the PCI SSC Board of Advisors is an important opportunity for RSPA to ensure that the interests of our membership are taken into account in the ongoing development of PCI security standards," said Finizio. "It also brings significant validation to RSPA's position as a trusted advisor and it is an indication that RSPA continues to build clout, exercise influence, advocate for our members and maintain relevance in our ever-changing industry."
The 2013-2015 Board of Advisors will serve as representatives in the collaborative efforts of the PCI SSC to secure payment card data globally. "RSPA intends to bring its industry expertise and breadth of knowledge to this community in support of the needs of our retail technology industry members and their respective merchant customers," said Finizio.
Primary Representative for RSPA, Joseph Finizio, will join representatives from the following organizations: Bank of America N.A.; Bankalararasi Kart Merkezi; Barclaycard; British Airways PLC; Carlson; Cartes Bancaires; Cielo S.A.; Cisco; Citigroup Inc.; European Payment Council AISBL; FedEx; First Bank of Nigeria; First Data Merchant Services; Global Payments Inc.; Ingenico; Micros; Middle East Payment Systems; PayPal Inc.; RSA, The Security Division of EMC; Starbucks Coffee Company; VeriFone Inc.; Wal-Mart Stores, Inc; and Woolworths Limited.
