Fast Times at RSPA
Spring is a very busy time of year for our industry and the gang at RSPA. In addition to our regular activities, RetailNOW preparations hit a fever pitch with daily tasks for everyone on staff. There are also many industry events where RSPA participates at some level. We always appreciate the opportunity to participate with a table-top display, speaking on an industry related topic or both at our members’ events. Participation provides us with an opportunity to keep in touch with the industry, communicate directly with members, make and maintain important connections and offer opportunities for new reseller members. Below are some of the observations from recent events.
RSPA on Capitol Hill
In April, RSPA representatives participated in our first public policy visit to Capitol Hill. The two day event was arranged by the National Restaurant Association. There were sessions to discuss specific issues, visits by legislators including Speaker of the House – John Boehner and breakout meetings with legislators on Capitol Hill. RSPA members teamed up with members of the state restaurant associations. This allowed RSPA a direct voice to our nation’s legislators to discuss our members’ needs on issues such as health care, taxes and most importantly payment card data security. The reviews from our attendees were all positive, providing RSPA with some forward traction on global issues affecting our members and industry.
