Installation Review: Simple Customization Adds Value To Bar Code Printing Solutions

By Gennifer Biggs, Business Solutions magazine.

When a current client of RACO Industries, a bar coding and data collection systems integrator, asked for help with a bar code printing dilemma on the floor of its manufacturing facility, RACO saw the opportunity to do some creative problem solving. Tom Adams, VP of product development for RACO, explains that the customer needed a bar code printing solution that was in part automated, somehow triggered to print a bar code label by the programmable logic controller (PLC) — the small computer used to control the automation of processes in a manufacturing environment — on the customer's conveyor belt. "The customer wanted four systems with a small footprint, rugged enough for the environment, and with the capacity to automatically print these labels as needed," says Adams.
